August is here (& almost gone) … and i feel the weeks between blog posts are getting just a little longer each time! It is great being on the road buying but also inspiring to come back and see what fabulous projects we have in the pipeline…like these amazing 19th C. wrought iron doors.

If one trades in antiques it is natural that at any one time we will have an enviable collection to draw on – our craft is not just finding it, but to stock pile, reserve and restore. We like to give each piece its day in the sunshine ~ something we are now doing daily on Instagram & Facebook.

Putting together a collection of pieces you love also takes time, make it a joyful journey of discoveries…not just a task to be completed.

Those of us in a creative industry know that the days & weeks are a juggle & you are forever torn between creative time and all the other have to do stuff!
Much of the behind the scenes work is happening daily at our workshop & warehouse…we have the space here to work on pieces that need specialized restoration. In the case of this gorgeous French iron folding day bed – ironwork repairs, stripping back heavy paint to reveal something a lot prettier underneath, lots of polishing & waxing (lyrical), customizing a mattress and base etc.

This one is sold but we have another in store at Surry Hills and with our next French shipment coming soon, we have one or two more for the workshop.
A few more images of restoration projects on the go – we know that good things take time…
I dig your posts!!
