I can’t believe more than a week has passed since I returned from Paris, how quickly our work life consumes us! For me, France is always a ‘work trip’ however this was a very different kind of visit as I was part of ‘Embrace Paris’ for 3 days and nights. I felt like quite the tourist in Paris for a change which i have to confess was pretty good fun!
Arriving & checking in at the Hotel Le Meurice on Rue de Rivoli, my first thought was this is not what I would normally call a hotel !It felt more like a palace filled with antiques but with edgy design details & furnishings by Philippe Starck creating an understated elegance.
Along with a fabulous location, opposite the playground of the Parisians, the beautiful Jardin Des Tuileries we could ask for nothing more. It was summer and the sun did shine.
To break the ice we were given the task of driving through Paris with Twiz Tours on Sunday afternoon – just imagine 10 ladies with walkie talkies, driving, talking & lots of laughing – it worked wonders for those nervous about driving in Paris and it was great to do a quick tour around some landmarks followed by an “apéritif dînatoire at Bar 228.
It was a whirlwind of beautifully arranged visits to studios and chateaus, and a coming together of ladies from different parts of the world – i will be updating these stories from the Embrace Paris experience as my blog has changed since i first wrote about this wonderful trip & some of the stories got lost along the way. There were some great behind the scenes moments, including a visit to Moynat, & a fun night spent at the Alain Ducasse cooking school…
Amongst the many highlights was a visit to the Chateau Vaux le Vicomte & meeting one very passionate home owner, i could have talked restoration for hours ! For those visitors heading to Paris this European summer add this to your wish list especially on a Saturday night when the Champagne Bar is in full swing in the most divine gardens along with 2000 candles, sounds like magic and on my list for my next visit.
Of course i did have to do a little work on this trip but that will be another post…along with details of our almost, ready to launch website!
À bientôt mes amis!
