Travel Notes – Paris highlights…

I promised to share some travel stories when I got my blog back so here are some long overdue highlights from our trip to Paris (last summer) – lots of work, new projects on the boil but some fun down time too! elementsilove, travel, paris, diner en blanc

Our week in Paris started very well …an amazing evening with just a few close friends in the Palais Royale! To be part of this flash mob/secret dinner party called Diner en Blanc it really helps to have friends in the know, it was a night like no other…a real wow, pinch myself moment! {Click here  for a little history of this event}

The next morning we were a little fuzzy but headed to the Flea-markets, Fridays is for trade only & everything closes around midday so we grateful for the the much needed early mark… We were staying a stones throw from Rue Beaumarchais, we love this area  & it is very familiar to us as we have friends living nearby, and it just gets a little hipper every time we visit.  Maison Plisson is the latest edition along with some great clothing stores, cafés + a cute hole in the wall fish n chip place – a  quirky find perfect for that nights dinner, we needed something quick & not typically French ~ !

If you are heading to Paris, for a celebration, or are lucky enough to be there for a  birthday like me put on your wishlist afternoon tea at the Plaza Athenee or maybe a cocktail at Le Bar.Hotel Plaza Athenee, Paris

After a major refurbishment this iconic Parisian hotel still retains its heart and soul but now has some modern elements that will make staying here that much sweeter!                     Hotel Plaza Atheneeparis, travel, elements i love

   Paris just wouldn’t be Paris, with out a little retail therapy…if like me you are short on time – BHV on the Rue de Rivoli makes it easy with a mix of brands under the one roof and best of all I can lose my other half in the ground floor hardware section for hours 🙂

BHV – the name comes from a former open-air Bazar de l’Hôtel de Ville that was here many years ago.

 Last but not least my favourite find was Les Chouettes – a new place to drink or dine in the Haut Marais ~ fabulous 3 storey building, in a previous life a jewellery factory. I love places like this and the renovation by Spanish architect Lázaro Rosa-Violán makes every space intimate, with tiled dining areas, backlit bars and upstairs cosy corners lined with velvet and cabinets filled with books and curiosities… did not want to leave.

And still trending in Paris, delectable éclairs, quite the taste sensation…

For visitors to Paris there is no end to what you might discover when you step out the door in the morning ,  flea markets, food markets, museums, galleries, parks and gardens, cafés & bistros…if you feel like sharing your discoveries, recommendations would love to hear from you! ♥
