“I dream my painting and I paint my dream.”
― Vincent van Gogh
Hi friends, this lovely quote in many ways sums up how i felt about this photo shoot, thanks Vincent for being so concise.
Over the years we have sold many pieces of beautiful furniture and antique doors – one of the joys of this is seeing these items come to life in their new home, and meeting the creative people behind them…and this is how we met Vanessa Stockard, as seen below in her self-portrait. It was an absolute dream to have her artwork to marry with our furniture – she loves our work and we love hers!
As we have adapted and changed to meet the demands of this social media mad world, with websites, instagram et al – it is collaborations like this that make it a good & creative place to be. Interiors are an evolution too, recently we have moved house and have been sourcing some mid-century furniture for ourselves and for clients – this Rosewood sofa table has just arrived in store. I couldn’t resist those blue tiles.
Vanessa is a finalist in this year’s Archibald Prize with her self-portrait as well as a finalist in the Portia Geach Award; both are reflections of how she see herself – the results depend on the day. She is painting what she is living; interior paintings, home life, messy babies, and some really beautiful still life’s. Find her here on instagram + find this console here…
Days at the warehouse can be messy too, but our photo shoot days are generally good days, i get to spend up big at the flower markets and boss everyone around ! Stunning acid etched salon doors we found in France – the blossom is almost prettier?
I know from working with clients on interior spaces the walls can be neglected…if possible factor in something you love earlier rather than later – any interior lifts when you add original artwork.
For this shoot, our most curated to date we were delighted to also have some rugs from Cadry’s to complete the interior vignette & some fabrics from Unique Fabrics, thanks so much. Stay tuned as we head towards a Californian R & D trip later on in the year..
As we start to slip into summer mode, this fabulous 1920’s setting helps set the scene for a a spritz or two on the terrace – looking forward to a few of those this summer!Last but not least we will be having an open weekend before Christmas – the dates are November 18th & 19th – put it in your diary more news to follow about this soon!
Hop on line to see the rest of the new stock or come & visit us in store Tuesday – Fridays.
