Still Life + Photography Workshop

After a topsy-turvy start to twenty-twenty, it is time to refocus on our little patch of earth in Byron Bay.  One of the best things about moving our business to Byron was the chance to create a purpose-built space that allows us to do more of what we loved and less of what we didn’t 🙂

Creating a space for lovers of the real thing.

We are thrilled to have English photographer Joanna Maclennan join us on Sunday February 16 for a  workshop – The Art of Slow Photography.   I have long been an admirer of Joanna’s, having connected over Instagram and meeting up in Sydney at our original warehouse in Sydney in 2018.  It feels only right that Joanna is one of our first collaborations in our new/old warehouse in Byron.

Beauty in decay. Joanna Maclennan

Author of The Foraged Home her book is not only a beautiful compendium of still life and interiors, but also celebrates the values of sustainability and salvage that our business has always advocated. Joanna strongly believes in restoring, re-purposing and recycling, in less is more. She has travelled extensively, but is a true francophile having been based in Provence for the past 10 years. Her work has been published internationally, including The World of Interiors, House & Garden and The New York Times.

This workshop is an excellent introduction to still life photography, whether for yourself or to use within a creative work practice. Places are strictly limited to ensure that Joanna can provide an intimate and hands on workshop, personally guiding you through basic theory and photography, whilst talking everything interiors and still life.

Surrounded by French antiques, plenty of pretty props;  a delicious French inspired lunch from the  Byron Bay Olive Co. & in keeping with French spirit of a brocante / flea market, a few glasses of rosé will be on the table.  We are planning a day of beauty and creativity in every way…
